Altered Drudges are most often considered Melee "food," because their debuffs make it too difficult for Mages. However, a prepared Mage can do quite well against them. The Hoary Mattekar Robe is the perfect choice of Armor against these guys, since it is inherently Unparalleled to Lightning damage. GSA with a Major Sparkling Stone is also good. By being prepared, I mean the Dispells. You can use the Purge Creature Magic Self (dispels level 5 spells) or the newly introduced Gems of Stillness to get rid of the pesky debuffs.

As can be seen from the pictures above, taking on more than one at a time can be pretty hairy. So, it is wise to take out the Drudges as fast as possible. Magic Yield VI + Fire Vuln VI + Flame Bolt VI = dead Drudge. The Magic Yield is not really necessary, but it helps with not being resisted. If the Drudge doesn't die in one hit, finish it off with another Flame Bolt.

Altered Drudges are known to drop amazing loot - level 6 jewelry, clothing, mastery items, you name it. Of course, the "phat lewt" drop rate is low - most of the time, you get the usual expensive junk (good for funding your trips to Aerlinthe). Altered Drudges can be found all over the Island - down near the beach and high up in the mountains, together with the nasty stuff. You can choose where to hunt =)

I do not have much experience with Augmented Drudges. The few times that I have killed them, I have not found anything good on the corpses. They look kinda cool - black and red, just like in the picture below:

They can be found in Raina's Harbor near the Relic Village and generally on the "other" side of the Aerlinthe Island - opposite to the side where you portal in. My advice for Augmented Drudges - stay away, they sux0r =)
