AERLINTHE JOURNAL CONTENTS:

Getting to Aerlinthe

So, all ready? Got your spell components, arranged your spell bars, and got your armor ready? Well then, no more wait - time to get your gimped butt to the Island =). There are two ways to get to the island, but you need to travel through a portal either way - there are two portals you may take. Each portal costs money. One costs a C note, and the other - a D note. Woah, a D note, you say? Sounds expensive... C note sounds better eh? Well, you can decide after you read this section. First, I will describe to you the C note way, and then the easy.. err I mean the D-note way =).

Okay, the C note way. Head to the town of Baishi, then go to the Tavern (huge building with double doors). Buy Sake and then head to the Drunken Madman (53S 61E) - very close run from Baishi. Then, hand the Sake to the dude who is resting on the ground. He opens a portal:

Hop in. You will find yourself in a little fort. Take the portal that leads to "Outside the Accursed Halls" - you will find yourself inside another little fort. Buff here (you will be running through a bunch of Copper/Iron Golems, Drudge Raveners, Banderling Berserkers - usual lowbie Direlands stuff) if needed. Turn in the Northern direction, head up the stairs, and jump over. Then.... start running.

When you see the Chalicmere Fortress (in the second pic), start buffing - you will want to make sure you cast Armor and Bludgeoning Protection Self on yourself, along with Strength, Coordination, and Jump Mastery - your Jump skill should be around 260 or higher. You must be able to jump onto the wall of the Castle (or have Lockpick skill). First, however, you're probably going to say "WTF!? There're like 50 Diamond Golems!" Hmm... yup. Not 50, but a bunch. You can either kill most of them (the ones that get in your way) or cross your fingers and move fast. Keep in mind, if you do the crossing fingers part, you will instantly gain Imperil and Bludgeoning Vulnerability Other VI, along with some other goodies like Weakness VI, etc. So... be careful. Another way to deal with these cool-looking Golems - nuke em! Oh.. might be a good idea to LS - there is a Direlands Lifestone (16.3S 54.6W) in the vicinity.

By the way, in the second screenshot.. that's an Armor VI Gharu only shirt =) So, these guys can carry some great loot sometimes, even motes and diamond hearts. Be careful when fighting these guys though, I got one-hit twice in one night by them (Imperil/Bludg Vuln VI) =). Okay, so once your path is clear, jump onto the lower part of the wall, then hop over to the path on top of the wall.. like this:

By the way, don't be afraid of the Undead standing on top of the wall, they don't seem to attack you. Jump down from the wall - watch out, there are a couple Obsidian Golems there, and make your way to Falahda the Emissary at Chalicmere Fortress (17.8S 57.4W). Hand her a C note and voila:

Okay... if this way sounds a bit tough for you - here's a much easier, but a bit more expensive way. Garaena the Emissary (87.6S 65.6W) will open a portal for you when given a D note. She is located in the Direlands, but she's quite easy to get to. First, make your way to Sylsfear Dungeon (11.0N 14.7E). Easiest way is to run from Al-Jalima - it's a pretty close run (with an occasional Broken Fragment on the way - whip out da stick and beat that sucka to death... unfortunately they often forget to drop shards). Once you get into the dungeon, it's best to wait for someone else on his/her way down - however, once you go down a couple times, you will memorize the path pretty quickly. Keep in mind, you DON'T have to fight the Shadows in the bottom room (you will meet some Shadows, Lieutenants, and Panumbris), just run by them and hop into the portal. You will pop out at the Direlands Lifestone (88.3S 64.5W) - might be a good idea to LS here. You will see some huts in the distance. Run to the huts! Here you will found who to hand the D note to:

Just hand the D note her (like the dude in the Faran Robe is doing), and she'll murmur some stuff and open up the portal. Be careful, however.. there are some Nomad Mu-Miyahs near her, along with some other monsters. I usually just throw all my protections on (they are actually still left over from the run through Sylsfear), run up to the Emissary, and hand over the D note. The portal is open.. hop in! This is what it looks like when you portal in:
